Join Curator, Marika Sardar as she gives a private tour of the exhibition, “The Art www.buy-trusted-tablets.com of Music.” This show presents a multifaceted and culturally diverse exploration of the intersection between music and art, with over 200 works of art including paintings, sculptures, textiles, musical instruments, as well as examples of contemporary video and sound art. The tour will focus on the examples of Indian art in the exhibition, and especially the wonderful paintings from the Edwin Binney 3rd Collection. (Limited to first 25 who register)

world renowned Art HistorianThe casualness of manner in which most of us look at Indian Paintings – because of their small size, possibly? – needs to be abandoned for there is much to explore and to take delight in. Prof. Goswamy, in his illustrated talk, will speak of what he sees in some great paintings, and how they need to be explored by all of us. (Limited to first 50 who register)
Annual Distinguished Lecture Series
Each year we bring a world renowned speaker to San Diego to speak on a topic related to the Art and culture of the Indian Subcontinent. Members have an opportunity to meet the speaker and get acquainted at a private event with the speaker. The program is open to the general public as well. See our past Distinguished Speakers details.
Art Appreciation Essay Contest
The next Art Appreciation Contest sponsored by The Committee for the Arts of the Indian Subcontinent (CAIS) will be in the fall 2016. High school students will be invited to view pieces of art at The San Diego Museum of Art and give a written response to what they see. The current South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Persian Art galleries (9-11) will close in May, 2016 and reopen in the fall in the north side of galleries 12 and 13. The contestants will have a tour of the new galleries led by a CAIS member. If you want to be notified about the Contest, please click to be added to our Contest email list. Last year’s winners were: 1st prize, Meera Kota $500, 2nd prize, Nivaasya Ramachandran $250 and 3rd prize, Yunfan Yang $100. Click for more information.
